Description

Position Summary:

The Internal Audit Coordinator works with the Compliance Officer to manage the planning and execution of AFC and GAFC audits. The objective is to evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of the organization's governance, risk management process, system of internal control structure, and performance in carrying out assigned responsibilities to achieve the organization's stated goals and objectives in accordance with federal, state, and local laws. The internal auditor brings a systematic and disciplined approach to effectiveness.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Upholds policies and procedures for the general operation of the Compliance Department.
  • Provides an unbiased review and evaluation to ensure compliance issues/concerns within Centro are being appropriately evaluated, investigated, and resolved in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for auditing on a test basis to assess compliance with regulations and ensure adherence to policies. Provides reports to keep management informed of the operation and progress of compliance efforts.
  • Making recommendations to improve policies or procedures accordingly.
  • Working closely with all departments to monitor implementation and compliance of Centro policies and procedures.
  • Determining whether areas reviewed are performing their planning or control activities in compliance with management instructions, applicable statements of policy and procedures, and in a manner consistent with both organizational objectives and high standards of administrative practice.
  • Surveying functions and activities in assigned areas under review to determine the nature of operations and the adequacy of the system of control in achieving established objectives.
  • Assisting in the determination of the direction and approach of proposed reviews.
  • Assisting in the determination of the audit procedures to be used.
  • Recommending improvements in current standards and the implementation of process changes in related areas.
  • Follow all other instructions and perform any other job-related duties

Mandated Reporter Statute: An individual in this position is considered a “Mandated Reporter” when on or off duty, according to Massachusetts Statutes.

Education & Experience:

  • A bachelor’s degree is required
  • Project management experience is a plus
  • Experienced as an audit coordinator strongly preferred

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to be physically mobile (stand, walk, reach, climb, bend) and also the ability to sit for prolonged periods throughout the day/work hours
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, copier, telephone, and the ability to write/type
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds occasionally
  • Able to drive to and from appointments, meetings, and conferences within the region
